Subject: Kathy ~ Thank you, thank you

You have no idea how much your generous donation means to me!
Thank you so much. Going to go out and relax at a movie on you!
Much, much love,
Ilena

When confronted about the appropriateness of spending money
(donated to the foundation)
on herself, Ilena Rosenthal replied:

For the last time, I deposited it the Humantics Foundation account on
8/8/00 and thanked Kathy for her generosity.

It was reported as a donation to the IRS.

[While Ilena publicly posted her 'thank you' saying she was going out to a movie, she did not mention the amount of the donation for any kind of receipt for tax purposes.  Later, Ilena's story adds that she sent a 'receipt'.  Very unprofessional and very poor fiscal management (see below)]

True, the check was made out personally to me ... however, as with all
such donations, I deposited it in The Humantics Foundation bank
account on 8/8/2000 and sent a thank you / receipt.

Many women sent their small donations with notes to use for something
personal ... but we chose instead to deposit all of these to cover the
expenses of the telephone, mailings, internet, and the scores of other
expenses related to raising awareness to the dangers of breast implants.
It went from this 'official sounding' management explanation to.....

If you believe that because she chose to send a donation, I have to answer
to you and Schaezler and O'Leary and Kathy Bengston if I go to a movie, or
a dinner, or spend the weekend on my feet at a Health Fair speaking out on
the dangers of breast implants ... you're sadly misinformed.

While Ilena Rosenthal said it was reported to the IRS, there have been no Form 990's to substantiate this, nor have any Humantics Foundation "financial statements" been forth coming (upon several "formal requests", including $$ for return postage).

A non-profit MUST make it's Form 990 OR  it's yearly Financial Statement of income and expenses available to the public.  The Humantics Foundation does not.
